Things I'm exploring and loving this month.
Natural alternatives: If during pain, growth or discomfort, you're likely to reach for alcohol, food, social media, or sleeping pills, I hear you. This article from my favourite blog, Free & Native, offers high vibe alternatives to toxic habits. Think Macuna for depression, kombucha over booze and GABA GABA instead of Valium.
Podcast: If you know somebody who is grieving (or even if you don't), this podcast episode with Sheryl Sanberg is incredible. She talks about how others can build resilience in the face of trauma, and gives you an insight into what it's like to lose someone so close to you. If you've ever been unsure what to say to someone going through a heavy loss, it's worth a listen.
Drinking: Water with The Beauty Chef Hydration Inner Beauty Boost. It's like a healthy, probiotic, sugar-free cordial. I add it to my drink bottle at the start of the day, as it's loaded with skin-loving probiotics and prebiotics plus natural electrolytes, minerals, vitamins and plant nutrients to help re-hydrate the skin and improve gut health. Plus tastes delish!
Eating: Supercharging avo toast with Spring Wellness GF bread, sauerkraut + lemon
Listening to: I Miss You, by Clean Bandits. Good beat.
Diffusing: to chill out ... 2 drops of each Marjoram, Clary Sage, and Bergamot.
Clearing ritual: Myrrh is one of the oldest and most sacred tools for clearing. Dating back to one of the three gifts to baby Jesus (along with Frankincense and gold) at his birth. When diffused, Myrrh helps to maintain a state of enlightenment, clears negative energy and the illusion standing in the way of seeing the truth. Try it with Wild Orange and Frankincense.
Reading: Earth is Hiring, by Peta Kelly. She's the voice of the millennial and gives an honest, no bullshit approach to how we can live, lead, earn and give in a way that supports the planet.
Evening ritual: Whoa, she has the most soothing voice I have ever heard. Before bed, I pop my headphones in and listen to an meditation from Sarah Blondin's Live Awake podcast. It immediately soothes any rough edges and I'm able to fall asleep in the right headspace.
Oil hack: It has been found that skin hydration which results from a bath or shower can enhance essential oil absorption. So take a hot bath or shower (which stimulates the blood flow of the dermis) and massage your body with fractionated coconut oil + frankincense + lavender + wild orange.
